Stephen W. Gray

Stephen Gray, age 76, originally of Cohasset, Massachusetts, passed away on the 23rd of February, 2026.

Stephen was born on May 14th, 1950 in New Britain, CT to William and Rita Gray. He grew up in Cohasset, MA and went on to attend The University of Denver. Steve later followed his love of film and photography to Los Angeles where he worked as a cinematographer for many years. Steve was deeply proud of his work on Savannah Smiles, and The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, often reminiscing on his days as “Ziggy” the cameraman. After two decades in film he returned to Boston, MA where he received his MBA and paralegal, and began his career as a legal administrator for NSTAR.

Steve was known for his great love of the outdoors in any season. Steve passed his love of winter sports on to his daughters, Kristin and Courtney, who he had on skis by the time they could walk. Steve enjoyed sailing, kayaking, mountain climbing, and any outdoor activity that required a good set of “gear”. His artistic side was passed on to his eldest daughter, Kristin, a gifted artist in multiple medias. In the 80’s and 90’s Steve enjoyed nautical races, participating in multiple Transpac yacht races. In the winter, Steve spent every weekend with his daughters at Ragged mountain, teaching them to ski, snowboard, and how to execute a perfect donut in an empty parking lot.

Steve is survived by his daughters Kristin Gray, of Scituate; Courtney Gray and her husband Stephen Randall, of Boston, his former wife, Lee Angland, Scituate; as well as his siblings, Joanie Rosselli and Robert Gray. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Rita and William Gray.
