Grant, Susan Copeland Susan "Susie" Copeland Grant, wife to Galt Grant of Hingham (formerly of Cohasset), passed peacefully with family by her side on April 19, 2023 at the age of 85. Susie was born in Buffalo, NY to Elster and Cornelia (Jones) Copeland. She attended Buffalo Seminary School in Buffalo, NY and later graduated from Colby Sawyer College in New London, NH where she forged lifelong friendships with Joan Middleton and Mary Rianhardt. After college, Susie moved to Boston with her older sister, Carol, where she met the love of her life, Galt Grant. In 1961 she married Galt at the Martha Mary Chapel in Sudbury, MA and moved to Cohasset a year later where they settled in for the next 59 years. Susie built a loving home and juggled many activities for her close knit family. With a strong belief in community, she dedicated herself to the service of helping others. She was actively involved in the Cohasset Garden Club, Meals on Wheels, the Red Cross, the First Parish Church and served on the board of the Cohasset Historical Society for several years. Susie was a devoted wife, mother and "GG" to her seven grandchildren, always filling the home with delicious baked goods and scrumptious meals. A gracious hostess, Susie was quiet and private in nature with a wry sense of humor. She and Galt loved to travel and explored many areas of the world over four continents. Family trips always held a special significance as the family spent many years camping across the United States and Canada. Susie will always be remembered for her kindness, humility and courageous spirit. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Galt Grant; her four children: Connie Bartels (husband Raymond) of Wilton, CT; Holly Grant (husband Eric Buchovecky) of Harvard, MA; Jill Pulley (husband Tom) of Hillsborough, CA; John Grant of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren: Jessie, Allie and RJ Bartels; Benjamin and Anya Buchovecky; Chace and Grant Pulley; four siblings: Carol Sullivan, Merrily Beyreuther, Sally O'Brien and Elster Copeland; and many nieces and nephews.
