Thomas J. Boland, Jr., age 90, of Hanover, formerly a long-time resident of Norwell, passed away after a brief illness on December 30, 2024. Tom was the beloved husband of Butty (Elizabeth Svagzdys) and the loving father of Susan E. Boland of Manhattan, Thomas J. Boland, III of Los Angeles, and Michael J. Boland and his wife Tracy A. of Hanover, MA.  He is also survived by two granddaughters, Alexandra and Clio Boland of Manhattan, whom he adored.  He was the brother of John Boland of Charlton, MA, Suzanne Ross of Methuen, MA and the late Rita Todd of Newark, DE.  Tom was born in Dorchester, MA to Thomas J. Boland, Sr. and Della C. (O'Reilly) Boland.

Tom graduated from North Quincy High School in 1953 and then proudly served in the US Army from 1956-1959.  He spent his career as a sprinkler fitter in Local 550 where he worked in many of the finest and most important buildings in the Boston area.  He was passionate about woodworking, was very fastidious about how he dressed and loved most of all to share a laugh with his family and friends.

Visiting hours to celebrate Tom will be at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central Street, Norwell, MA on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 11 am-1 pm and will be followed by a service at 1 pm. Interment will be private and held at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
