Thomas "Tom" Albert Yurof

Our family is deeply saddened to share that Thomas Albert Yurof ("Tom") , of Norwell, Massachusetts, passed away on October 4, 2026, following a brief and unexpected illness. Born in Chelsea on September 23, 1944, Tom was the son of the late Albert Yurof Sr. and Marie (Carrigan) Yurof . He was predeceased by his brother Albert Yurof Jr. and siblings Ruthie Carrigan and Bob Carrigan . He is survived by his brothers Paul Yurof, John Yurof, Bill Carrigan and his wife Tho , and sisters Anne Marie Yurof and Peggy Morrison.

Tom was a caring father, Papa, brother, partner, and friend whose greatest pride was always his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen Marie Yurof , the love of his life, whom he cherished deeply and was married to for fifty wonderful years.

As Founder and President of American Production Machining in Norwood, Tom built a successful career as an engineer, problem solver, and gifted craftsman. Tom could fix, design or invent just about anything and was known for saying, "We've got to Rube Goldberg it," whenever a challenge arose, often coming up with creative and unconventional solutions that never failed to impress and amuse those around him. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army and maintained a lifelong appreciation for American history and the sacrifices of those who served.

Tom measured success not by what he earned, but by what he gave. He and Kathy built a home in Norwell that became known to many as "Camp Yuri." More than a house, it was the heart of the family, a place where everyone was welcome and countless memories were made. It reflected Tom and Kathy's generous spirit and love of bringing people together. In later years, their daughters, Cindy and Susie , lovingly helped continue those traditions, keeping the spirit of Camp Yuri alive.

He was immensely proud of his children: Cindy Waller and her husband, Kane; Erik Thomas Yurof and his wife, Kelli; Susie D'Entremont and her husband, Jay; Mandy Reisman and her husband, Matt; and Joseph Lowry. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his children create loving families of their own.

Of all his roles, being "Papa" was his favorite. He adored his grandchildren: Nathan Thomas, Liam Eriksen, and Jocelyn Albertina Yurof; Samantha Rose and Sophia Grace D'Entremont; Ty Harrison Waller; and Benjamin Anthony and Lucille Anne Reisman, who brought endless happiness to his life.

Tom was known for his humor, kindness, and ability to make people feel at home. He had a gift for turning neighbors into friends and friends into family. A loyal Patriots and Red Sox fan, he loved talking sports and sharing a laugh. He found peace outdoors, especially fishing with his son and best friend, Erik, and many would agree he was one of the best striped bass fishermen on the South Shore. He also enjoyed feeding birds, observing wildlife, and sharing his love of nature and animals with his daughter Mandy.

In recent years, Tom found companionship and love with his beloved partner, Judy Kelly. Her presence brought comfort and joy to his life, and his family is forever grateful.

Those who knew Tom will remember his generosity, quiet confidence, steady presence, and unwavering commitment to family. He created a home people loved to visit, friendships that lasted a lifetime, and a legacy that will live on through family gatherings, stories around the table, fishing trips, Patriots Sundays, and cherished traditions. The mark Tom left on those who loved him is lasting, but his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with Kathy, the love of his life.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tom's life on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Our Lady of the Angels-St. Mary's Parish in Hanover, Massachusetts, at 10:00 a.m., with a Wake & Celebration of Life to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Tosca's Restaurant in Hingham. Tom will be laid to rest in a private burial at First Parish Cemetery in Norwell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to The New England Wildlife Center, www.newildlife.org or to the Hanover Council on Aging.
