Timothy Joseph Ewell

Timothy Joseph Ewell, adored husband, father, son in law, brother, uncle, and friend of Marshfield, passed away on March 3, 2026, at the age of 53 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham.

Born on August 11, 1972, in Weymouth, MA he was the son of our beloved Ralph W. Ewell Jr. and Judith Ann (Bennett) Ewell. Tim was the youngest of seven children.

Tim attended Rockland Schools. He was a graduate of Rockland High School in 1990 and later a graduate from Curry College in Milton. Tim excelled at athletics in Rockland in both hockey and soccer. At the time of his graduation he was the all-time leading scorer in Rockland High School Hockey program history. He continued his hockey career at Curry College and later in various “beer leagues” on the South Shore for many years. Those who shared the ice or a locker room with Tim know that not only was he an exceptional talent on the ice, but also one of the funniest and most spirited of teammates.

While at Rockland High School Tim met the love of his life and soulmate Rebecca (Melvin). The high school sweethearts were married on August 21st, 1999 and later started their family in Rockland before moving to Marshfield.

Tim was a pillar of the community, supporting all of the activities of his three children Avery, Bennett, and Stella. He shared his love and deep knowledge of hockey as a dedicated youth hockey coach to his son Bennett and teammates. In Marshfield, he added to the countless friendships and connections from Rockland that helped define him. Tim could always be seen courtside, rinkside, on the sidelines or in the crowd as a compassionate and caring parent. He often said that being a great husband and father are his defining achievements.

When he wasn’t in a rink, on a field or on a court you could find Tim in the kitchen making delicious meals for his friends and family. His go to meal was chicken marsala that no one will ever be able to replicate. Tim was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #841 of Rockland where he would spend time with his friends.

Tim showed an unparalleled work ethic as a contractor in the construction field. For many years he worked as a plasterer alongside his brother Jimmy at Ewell Construction completing many beautiful projects.

If you knew Tim then you surely know of his charisma, sense of humor and his thoughtful, caring nature. The term one of a kind certainly applies. Tim will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Tim’s handsomely beautiful smile will continue to brighten our days as the sun rises, always!

He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Rebecca (Melvin) Ewell, along with their beautiful children Avery August, Bennett Mills and Estella Daine of Marshfield. He is also survived by his siblings, nieces and nephews and so many wonderful friends.

All services will be held at Our Lady of the Angels, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Monday March 9th from 3-7 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Cremation will follow.
