Velma Barresi

Velma (Amistadi) Barresi, of Cohasset, September 16, 2026, age 92. Widow of the late Joseph Barresi. Devoted mother of Paul Barresi and wife Audrey of Hanover and the late Gia Barresi. She also leaves beloved grandchildren Matthew and Joseph Barresi. Sister of Augusta Maffei of PA and Richard Amistadi of NC.

Born on Miners’ Hill in Langeloth, PA in 1934, she graduated from Burgettstown (PA) High School in 1952, and from Point Park Jr. College in 1954. She left western PA in 1956 to become a flight attendant for TWA. Originally stationed in New York, she was transferred to Boston, where she met Joseph Barresi, to whom she was married for 59 years.

Vel will be remembered fondly for her thriftiness, her culinary prowess, her pride in her northern Italian heritage and her enjoyment of Patriots football.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church, 10 Summer Street, Cohasset at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 22. Burial will be private. Donations may be made to the Gia Barresi Scholarship Fund, c/o Maureen McCarthy, 203 Hull Street, Cohasset, MA 02025.
