Virginia M. (McSoley) Nichols, 91 of Scituate, beloved wife of 29 years of the late George R. Nichols, died peacefully at her home in Scituate on February 12, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Devoted mother of Keith and his companion Carol Whyte of Weymouth, Scott and his wife Christine of Marshfield, Donna Bearup (Nichols) and her husband Jeff of Duxbury and Lee Angland (Nichols) and her husband Michael of Scituate. Cherished grandmother of Kaitlyn DiPerna, Kelly Moher, Brooke and Ryan Campbell, Craig and Rachael Nichols, Kristin and Courtney Gray, Robin Angland and Matthew Bearup. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Dorchester, Jini graduated from Dorchester High School and upon graduation went to work for the Telephone Company and then took a job with O'Brien Russell Insurance where she was introduced to her future husband George by a mutual friend. After dating a year, Jini and George got engaged and were married 6 months later in St. Brendan's church in Dorchester. They moved to Scituate in 1956 and raised their 4 children. Jini was a stay at home mom who was active as one of the first volunteer librarians at Jenkins School and in St. Mary's Sodality. A longtime member of St. Mary's Parish, after her husband's death, Jini went to work at the Welch Co. where she gladly walked to work and enjoyed her job for 20 years before retiring. A member of the Scituate ladies "Club" Jini was a lifelong, avid reader who also enjoyed her daily walks to the town pier, traveling and as anyone who knew her knows, a good meal! She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
