Obituary
William J. "Bill", Guiney, 67, of Norwell passed away on June 15, 2015 after a hard fought battle with leukemia. Bill was the beloved husband of Catherine (O'Brien), the devoted father of Elizabeth A. Jones and her husband, Christopher, of Marshfield and Jennifer E. Guiney and her fiancée, Brian Holland, of Bristol, RI, and the proud and loving Papa of Abigail C. Jones. Son of the late Dennis F. and Mildred V. (Hartmann) Guiney, he was the caring brother of Dennis Guiney and the late Charlotte, Robert Guiney and his wife Gail, Richard Guiney and his wife Ilene, Edward Guiney and his wife Bridget, and Margaret Doyle and her husband, Jake, and the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Bill and Cathy were married for more than 47 years and lived in Norwell throughout their married life where they made many lifelong friends. Bill was a graduate of Boston Trade High School, owner of Sullivan Plumbing Corporation of Melrose, and a member of the Plumbers Union Local #12. Bill's greatest love was his family. He was devoted to those he loved and in his free time he enjoyed many hobbies including driving his Corvettes and home improvement. His family is grateful for the caring support from the staff at Mass General Hospital, especially the oncology team, bone marrow transplant team, and the doctors and nurses on Lunder 10.
Family and friends will honor Bill's life by gathering at McNamara Sparrell Funeral Services, 30 Central Street (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell, on Thursday, June 18 from 4-8 pm. Funeral From the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home at 8 am Friday, June 19 departing in procession to St. Helen's Church, 383 Washington Street, Norwell for a funeral Mass to celebrated in his name at 9am. Interment in Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to the Caring for a Cure Fund at Mass General Hospital at Caring for a Care Fund, MGH Development Office, 100 Cambridge Street, Suite 1310, Boston, MA 02114 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at 9 Erie Drive, Suite 101, Natick, MA 01760.
