William Edward Hickey, Atty., age 85, of Hingham, formerly of Quincy, Dedham, Scituate, and Falmouth passed away on October 21, 2014. Beloved husband of Elisabeth A. (Casserly), his wife of 61 years. Predeceased by his daughter Karen M. Hickey, and survived by his children, William E. Hickey Jr., Gerald P. Hickey, Janice M. Darlington, Alice M. Franco, as well as five grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Brother of Rev. Gerald J. Hickey, and Francis C. Hickey, and the late Edward V. Hickey. He will also be missed by his faithful feline companion, Mollyanna.
Born in New York, New York, Bill was raised in Dedham. A graduate of Dedham High School, he was a proud member of their basketball team, winners of the State Championship. He graduated from Boston College, Class of 1951. Bill served in Korea as a Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps. Wounded twice, he received a commendation and a Purple Heart with Star. Upon return, he and Betty were married and Bill enrolled in Boston College Law School, Class of 1957. For more than 50 years, he practiced law in Quincy. He was a member of the Massachusetts and Norfolk Bar Assoc., a board member of the Quincy Visiting Nurse Assoc., a part time City Solicitor, and a mayoral liaison to the Quincy Police Dept. During President Ronald Reagan's administration, Bill served on the American Battle Monuments Commission. He enjoyed living at various stages of life in Dedham, Scituate, Quincy, and in retirement, in Falmouth, MA.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at 10 am in Church of the Resurrection, 1057 Main St. (Rt. 228), Hingham, MA, preceded by a visitation from 9:30-10 am in Church of the Resurrection. Private Interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Bill may be made to The Animal Shelter-MSPCA, 350 S.
