William J. (Bill) Kelley, age 77, of Weymouth passed away peacefully at Braintree Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on February 10, 2012 after a prolonged illness.  He was the beloved husband of the late Marilyn F. (Allen) Kelley for 56 years. A devoted father of seven children, Christopher and wife Dorothy of East Bridgewater, Colette and husband John of Clearwater, FL, Paul of Naples, FL, Mark and wife Lynne and Greg and wife Diane both of Hopkinton, Carl and wife Megan of Jamaica Plain and Valerie and husband Jesse of Stoughton.  He was also the very proud grandfather of ten grandchildren, Sean, Lindsay, Arielle, Alexa, Ian, Megan, Amanda, Connor, Aidan and Finn.

Born in Wollaston and raised in White Plains, NY, Bill was the son of the late William L. and Georgianna Kelley and brother to Saundra Robbins of Weymouth and the late Corinne Kelley of Chicago, IL.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He graduated from Officer Candidate School, commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant, and served in the 4th Regimental Combat Team as battalion communication officer. He completed his enlistment as a 1st lieutenant.
He earned his bachelor degree in education, cum laude, from Boston State College and was a retired real estate development/construction consultant.

Bill was an active member of Saint Francis Xavier Parish in South Weymouth and served as a lector of scripture, president of the Holy Name Society, teacher of CCD, and as a member of its Grand Annual Finance Committee for many years.

He was also actively involved in civic life: serving as a town meeting member, chairman of the Finance Committee, and a member of the Fairgrounds Development and Police Station Building Committees.

Bill participated in his children's lives by volunteering in their various youth activities as a Cub Scout & Boy Scout leader and coaching for boys & girl's soccer and Farm League & Babe Ruth baseball teams.

Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service celebrating Bill's life to be held on Friday, February 17 at 10:00 AM at Saint Francis Xavier Parish, 234 Pleasant Street, South Weymouth, MA 02190.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to Father Bill's Place, 38 Broad Street, Quincy, MA 02169.
