William F. McDermott- age 79, of Boston, formerly of Cohasset and Marlboro. January 1, 2011. Loving father of Michael McDermott of Los Angeles, CA. He also leaves behind his daughter in law, Sue McDermott and two grand daughters, Meghan and Shannon. Bill was the beloved brother of Patricia Daly and Isabelle McDermott, and brother in-law of Frank Daly all of Scituate. He was the son of the late Francis J. and Isabelle (Lynch) McDermott.

Mr. McDermott attended Boston University and served in the US Navy. Mr. McDermott was the Appointment Secretary to Governor Volpe of MA. He ran several congressional campaigns, most notably that of William Weeks. Bill also served US Rep Margaret Heckler, as her Administrative Assistant in Washington, DC. He subsequently served in various phases of governmental and political life.
