William B. Smith, age 81, of Hanover, formerly of Norwell, passed peacefully with his loving family at his side on December 17, 2011. Beloved husband of Mary L. (Kelley) and devoted father of Linda Kampf and her husband, Quentin of Mattapoisett, and Alan Smith of Plymouth. Brother of Ethelyn Molander of Maryland, and the late Beatrice Smith and Frederick Smith. Adored grandfather of Jill Mott and husband, James of East Longmeadow, Michelle Kampf of Mattapoisett, Sabrina Smith and Jacob Smith of Norwell.

Mr. Smith was a retired mechanical contractor, having worked for many years in the Boston area, as well as in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a former member of the Satuit Band out of Scituate MA as he loved to play the trumpet.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 from 3-7 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St. (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, donations in William's memory may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice Care, PO Box 751, Fairhaven, MA. 02719-0751.
