In Loving Memory of Yvette Rosa Rattenbury
Yvette R. Rattenbury, 84, a devoted wife, beloved mother, and adored member of her community, returned with peace and grace to the arms of the Lord on November 29, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on June 22, 1940, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Yvette was the beloved daughter of Paul Emile Sirois and Rosa Marie Levesque, both of French and French-Canadian descent. From a very young age, Yvette was raised by her loving and devoted foster parents, Robert and Shirley Dobbyn of Braintree. She was blessed with a kind, sensitive, and creative soul. In another life, Yvette could have been a bohemian free spirit living in Paris pursuing her life-long passions of watercolor, pastels, and photography.
She met the real love of her life, Henry Arthur Rattenbury, Jr. of Cohasset, Massachusetts, when they both worked at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy. On November 19, 1960, they married and settled in Cohasset. She paid forward the altruism and kindness of her foster family by dedicating her life as a caring, loving, and compassionate mother to her four boys, Paul of Shelton, CT, Mark of Cohasset, John of Braintree, and Jay of Cohasset. She nurtured and protected her family with boundless patience and warmth, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will forever be cherished.
She is survived by her devoted spouse of 64 years, Henry; her four loving boys and their wifes/significant others Natalie Ostin of Sheldon, CT, Janet Rattenbury of Cohasset and Gena Mullen of Brockton; her grandchildren, Tiffany, Clay, Michaela, and Mark; and great grandchildren Mason and Jackson her sister Pauline MacDonald, and Stepsisters Kathleen Dobbyn Bouchard, Karen Dobbyn Fields, Eileen Dobbyn Ackles and Predeceased by sister Georgette Richardson; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Yvette's life will be honored with a wake at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home in Cohasset from 4-7pm on Friday, December 6, 2024. There will be a mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cohasset at 11:00am on Saturday, December 7th. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the South Shore Art Center, Cohasset at http://ssac.org/makeacontribution.asp, an organization Yvette held dearly.
Though she is no longer with us, Yvette's legacy of love, devotion, generosity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all those blessed to know her. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. Amen.
