Zigmond J. "Ziggy" Morawski, 91 of Scituate, formerly of Dorchester, died November 6th, 2016 after a brief illness, with his children by his side. He leaves behind his wife of over 50 years, Kathryn (Ney) Morawski, his three children Kathryn and Mary Anne of Dorchester and son John of Uxbridge, daughter-in-law Julie Woods and grandsons Evan and Liam Morawski of Uxbridge and Cullen Morawski of Prescott AZ; and his sister Blanche Spitz of Reading. He is predeceased by his sister Julia Mazzerall of West Roxbury and brother Bernard Ureneck of Boston. Ziggy was a US Navy veteran who served in the south pacific during World War II. He worked for the Department of the Navy at the Boston Naval Shipyard his final position was a Shipwright's Assistant during the refurbishing of the USS Constitution until the closure of the shipyard in 1974. He also worked for many years as a courier for the Bank of Boston. Mr. Morawski and his wife were Salesian Cooperators, dedicating more than 20 years in service to the lay mission of the Salesian Order of Saint Don Bosco. An avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Bruins, he enjoyed golfing and caring for his home in Scituate. A Funeral from the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church) on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 from 3-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. Interment private.
