Anne E. (Kiely) Costello of Hingham, formerly of Cohasset, passed away peacefully with her devoted daughter by her side on October 30. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Costello and the cherished mother to her daughter, Lee. Anne was born on February 23, 1925 to Katherine F. (Leary) and William Leo Kiely and educated in Marblehead. Anne graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital Training School for Nurses and for 8 years worked in the Chemistry Department at the Huntington Research Laboratories at Harvard Medical School.
Anne was married to Robert C. Costello, President of South Shore Buick, for 56 years until his passing in 2002. She devoted her life to her family and was an active member in each of the communities where they lived. In Wellesley she led Girl Scout Troops from Brownies to Senior Mariners and was a nurse volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile Unit. While living in Milton, she served as longtime Board member and Secretary of the Ladies of Charity of the Carney Hospital. An avid reader, Anne served as a Board member and past President of the Friends of the Paul Pratt Memorial Library in Cohasset. Anne was a long time member of Cohasset Golf Club and the Neighborhood Club of Quincy and a 75 year member of the MGH Nurses Alumnae Association.
In addition to her treasured daughter, Lee C. Costello of Boston, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, William Leo Kiely, Jr. of Atlanta, GA.
A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at noon at St Anthony Church, Cohasset. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery in Cohasset.
