Anne (Donovan) Fridgen, age 85, of Norwell, passed away peacefully on December 24. She was the beloved wife of Richard Fridgen, and loving mother of Anne Fridgen-Traft and her husband Allan of Norwell, Sandra Foley and her husband Ed of Jamaica Plain, Susan Fridgen and her husband Tim Miller of Takoma Park, MD, and Donna Fridgen and her husband Jim Cosgrove of Weymouth. She was a devoted grandma to Kelly and Janine Traft, and Ryan, Jessica, and Emma Miller. Anne was the sister of Kathleen Haggerty and her husband John of Columbia, CT.
Anne grew up in Milton and worked for the Telephone Company. She met her sweetheart on a farm in Minnesota. They corresponded for two years while Rick was in the Navy; then married, bought a home in Norwell and raised four daughters.
She loved family times, friends, travel, camping every summer at Curlew pond, daily mass and mall walking. Anne volunteered as a girl scout leader, at the Norwell polls and at the Council on Aging. She also enjoyed chocolate, puzzles and anything with a butterfly on it.
A Mass will be held at St. Helens Church in Norwell on January 6th at 9am. Wake and burial at National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
