Anne Kittle Obituary

Anne Moira Johnston Kittle was born in Coventry, a city in the heart of England, on April 16th 1952 to Scottish parents Agnes and Alexander Penman. She has an elder brother John, who still resides in the UK with his family.

Anne attended University at Leicester Polytechnic in England, where she studied apparel design. The ‘Leicester Poly’ was also home to her future husband Chris’ academic pursuits, although they would meet for the first time some years later. After finishing university, she worked as a fashion designer for several years before becoming a lecturer in apparel design at South Fields College in Leicester.

Anne met Chris Kittle at a friend’s party in the mid 1980’s and they were happily married in 1986. A year later she arrived in the USA, settling into the beautiful town of Cohasset, Massachusetts, with her son Tom and husband Chris. Her first daughter Lucy was born in November 1987, followed by the arrival of her second daughter Chloe in May 1990.

Over the next 30 years, Anne and her family enjoyed living in various places throughout New England, including Falmouth, Maine, and Westport, Connecticut, before returning ‘home’ in 2011 to Cohasset, her most favorite place of all.

Anne was a very creative person. Aside from fashion design, she was an exceptional cook, enjoyed “pop-up” cards, and was equally content soaking up the sun with a good book on a beautiful beach. Anne’s passion, above all else, was her loving family and friends. She gave unselfishly, even at the end of her journey, consistently putting the needs of others before her own, and showering those around her with unconditional love.

Anne’s remarkable fight with ovarian cancer began in 2000. Over the following 18 years, she faced incredible challenges as she courageously endured multiple treatments aimed at her disease. Yet, she always remained optimistic and was simply never one to complain. Anne beat her biggest challenge by how she lived, while she lived, and in the manner in which she lived. Anne led a gracious and courageous life until the very end, and in this regard she was truly an inspiration to so many.

Anne passed away peacefully on Valentines Day, 2018 (her mother’s birthday) at 8:10am. She is survived by her husband, Christopher, her daughters Lucy and Chloe, and her son Thomas and daughter in law Angie and their beloved son Milo.  She is also survived by her brother John, along with many loving friends all over the world. She was preceded in death by her parents Agnes and Alexander Penman, of Coventry England.

Burial services will be private and for immediate family, but a celebration of her life will take place Sunday, February 25th in Cohasset, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anne’s honor are welcome at OCRFA.org, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.
