Donald Sherman Clark

 

 

Born in Newton, Massachusetts on April the fifth, nineteen hundred and twenty-eight to Philip Dwight Clark and Doris (Greenwood) Clark. Brother of Benjamin and the late Philip Jr, Charles, Carol and David.

 

 

In June of nineteen hundred and fifty-four, at St John's Episcopal Church in Newton, he married Jacqueline Beauregard of Boston.                                                                                             

Father of Bradford, Jacqueline and Douglas.

Grandfather of Christopher and Andrew.

 

 

A structural engineer, he was a graduate of Newton schools and Northeastern University.

He was affiliated with Bethlehem Steel before opening his own company.

 

 

At sixteen, he built his first boat. In his early twenties he was completing his solo flights for his pilot license.

Donald was a master craftsman in the building and restoration of antique houses, barns and boats.

 

 

In the fifties Donald served as a US Air Force reservist reporting to Fort Devens Meteorology division augmenting his basic interest in the phenomena of atmosphere and its comprehensive effects.

 

A member of Northeastern University Alumni Association, 

former member of St. John's Episcopal Church and St. Mary's Episcopal Church, both of Newton.

He was a member of Cohasset Yacht Club and Cohasset Sailing Club.

He was a graceful skier and loved his sailing boats.

 

 

Donald Clark was honorable and precise in all of his endeavors,

measured in temperament.

He never failed us.

He was a gentleman. Always.

Whose arm does bind the restless wave, who bids the mighty ocean deep its own appointed limits keep."

 

 

As is his preference, and that of his family, there will be no visitation or service.
