Dorothy and her late husband, James, were married for 54 years and proud parents of 11 children: Greg Lagrotteria and his wife Eileen, Jim Lagrotteria Jr., Tom Lagrotteria and his wife Christine, Mary Sease and her husband Hugh, John Lagrotteria and his wife Jennifer, Ann Marie Escobar and her husband Antonio, Christine McCarron, Joseph Lagrotteria, Jennifer Kane and her husband Jim, Barbara Lagrotteria and Carlo Lagrotteria. Gammy cherished her 16 grandchildren: Mary, Hugh, Peter, Christopher, Hunter, Merrick, Lizzie, Matt, Jillian, Quentin, Ianjames, Patrick, Hayes, Caroline, Michelle, and Danny. Dorothy was the youngest child in her family that included one sister and five brothers, whom she loved dearly.
An extremely devout woman who consecrated her five daughters to the blessed mother, Dorothy’s strong faith inspired a pilgrimage to Medjugorje where she made some cherished friends. She considered it a great honor to be a eucharistic minister at St. Anthony’s of Cohasset where she was a congregant for more than 40 years. Dorothy also enjoyed her 25+ years working together with her officemates at Glastonbury Abbey. A graduate of Notre Dame Academy (Roxbury), she served as captain of her basketball team, class pianist, as well as president of the Athletic Association.
