Eleanor M. (Fitzpatrick) Larson

Eleanor Marie Larson, age 87, of Norwell, Massachusetts, passed away on May 5, 2023 with her loving daughters at her side.

Eleanor was born May 22, 1935 to William and Agnes Fitzpatrick in Newton, Massachusetts. She grew up in a lively home with 5 younger brothers and 1 younger sister and large extended family. She attended St Bernard’s High School and graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston with a degree in childhood education. She started her career teaching elementary school. Eleanor fell in love with her late husband Russell Larson, got married and moved to Norwell. There she raised her own family, supporting her children in all of their activities.  She was a long-time substitute for the Norwell Public Schools. Once her kids were grown, she worked at South Shore Medical Center in the billing department.  Eleanor was an accomplished pianist, and well known as the organist for Saint Helen's Church in Norwell for more than 30 years. Upon her retirement from Saint Helen’s, Eleanor continued to spread joy with her music as a member of the OPALS singing group.  

She passed her faith and appreciation of music to all her children. Eleanor was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind wonderful daughters and beautiful memories.  Eleanor is the devoted mother of Mary Beth Hurley (Brian), Tina Kraft (Tim), Cindy DeBenedictis (Tony), Karen Flint (Chris), and Erica Silveira (Jay). Eleanor leaves behind 13 wonderful grandchildren AJ, Kevin, Allison, Shannon, Thomas, Sarah, Kyle, Andrew, Nicoletta, Tucker, Riley, Tyler, and Dylan. 

She is also survived by her treasured siblings Janet LeBlond, James Fitzpatrick, Robert Fitzpatrick, Paul Fitzpatrick, and John Fitzpatrick in addition to many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Eleanor is predeceased by her husband Russell L. Larson, her granddaughter Caitlin, and brother William Fitzpatrick.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 12th from 4-7 pm at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home at 1 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA.  A funeral mass will be held at Resurrection Parish at 1057 Main Street, Hingham, MA, on Saturday May 13th at 10:00 am.  Burial will follow alongside her beloved Russell at Washington Street Cemetery in Norwell.
