On December 7th 2020 Eleanor Gertrude Palmer passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 19, 1927 to Janet and John Schuyler Porter in Mariposa TWP, Ontario Canada, the third of four daughters.
She went on to nursing school in Toronto and courageously moved as a young woman to Boston to be surgical nurse at the Massachusetts General and Beth Israel Hospitals.
Her hands were always busy, sewing, knitting or baking her famous blueberry and apple pies. She joined the Church of the Redeemer, Chestnut Hill altar guild in 1969 and later became the directress in 1979, faithfully serving for 44 years.
Her pride and joy was her family. She was an exceptional mother to four daughters, doting grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Bunny”. Every August her family gathered to celebrate “Bunny Palooza”. Eleanor always enjoyed a bourbon and ginger with a wedge of lime. All who knew Eleanor recognized her sweet, caring and generous disposition. She will be sorely missed by her family, and many friends.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters Donna Ostin (Rick), Nancy Connelly (Drew), Dianne Landon (Owen), Tracy Clancy (Michael). Her 11 grandchildren Caroline Thomas (John), Alexander Ostrom (Jenna), Christian Ostrom, Charlotte Schoenberg (Matthew), Elizabeth Kenney (Joseph), Owen Landon IV, Peter Connelly III, Oliver Connelly, Hope Connelly, Porter Clancy, Emma Clancy, 3 great-grandchildren Sawyer Schoenberg, Teddy and Henry Thomas, her many nieces and nephews, her sisters Laura Porter, Marie Henstock and husband Bob and predeceased by Dorothy Clark.
In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Eleanor may be made to a charity of one's choice.
