Elizabeth MacLeod Obituary

Elizabeth “Liz” Walker MacLeod of Cohasset entered into eternal rest on November 2, 2021, after a courageous 18-month battle against pancreatic cancer. Liz was born on January 16, 1974, to John and Elizabeth “Betsy” (Roche) Walker of Holliston. Liz graduated from Holliston High School in 1992, and Boston College in 1996. She was the devoted wife of Donald “Ross” MacLeod, III, a retired USAF veteran, and loving mother to Shannon and Connor MacLeod. Liz is also survived by her two brothers: John and his wife, Mary Jane, of Milton, and Timothy and his wife, Margaret, of Plymouth. She was the dear aunt to nine nephews and one niece. Liz was the daughter-in-law of Donald and Virginia MacLeod of Cohasset, and sister-in-law of Maura MacLeod and her husband, Daniel Delongchamp, of Arlington.

Liz had the most beautiful and warmest smile that always lit up the room.  She truly loved and cared for those around her, and touched so many with her kindness. Liz lived by the three loyalties of God, Family and Country. She was a faith-filled Christian who used her gifts and talents to help others. When Liz and Ross were stationed at Osan Air Base in South Korea she belonged to the overseas family support groups and volunteered for many of the charities they sponsored such as teaching English to Korean children and supporting charity golf tournaments. When Ross and Liz were stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, AZ, Liz volunteered for many of the charity events hosted by the base including gathering presents each year for the Native American children of the Tohono O’odham Reservation for their annual Christmas party.

Liz was a stay-at-home mom who was always very dedicated to her children’s school and sports activities. Liz worked tirelessly for volunteer and fundraising events at St. Paul School, where her children attended. She co-chaired the Christmas bazaar for several years, the Spring Gala, and was a past co-president of the PTO. Liz was an outstanding athlete who played Division I softball and field hockey at Boston College. She used her athletic talent to coach the Cohasset Youth Softball team for many years and helped initiate the first annual CYBSA “Grand Slam Benefit.” Liz also coached the Saint Paul School Girls Basketball team for several years.  Aside from her love of volunteering and sports, Liz also had a passion for traveling, and traveled extensively across the world with her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Liz’s visitation at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St., Cohasset, MA, on Sunday, November 7, 3:00 - 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, November 8, at 11:00 am, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 2 Summer St., Cohasset, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Liz’s name may be made to St. Paul School, 20 Fearing Rd., Hingham, MA.
