Francis Xavier Joyce, of Scituate, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, December 10, 2022 after a long, courageous battle with cancer, he was 75.
Franny was born on January 19, 1947 to the late Mary and Joseph Joyce of Scituate, MA. He spent his childhood in South Boston and memorable summers at his grandmother’s home in Scituate, where he eventually moved at age 14. He attended Scituate High School, class of ‘65 and went on to American University in Washington, D.C.
Franny started working as a young boy for the family business delivering ice, filling oil tanks, selling flowers at the gas station, and so much more. He loved sharing stories of his childhood, especially with his grandchildren. As an adult he worked as a prison guard on Deer Island and then eventually formed his own company, Joyce Builders, with his bothers where he was a master carpenter. Franny loved his work, which he was able to share with his sons and nephews, and built everything from businesses to homes to cabinets to furniture. His passion and pride for carpentry showed in his work and he had a wonderful time sharing his knowledge with all his grandchildren doing projects with them in their new home.
Franny leaves behind his loving sons, Joseph “Toby” (Monica), Joshua (Keith), and Noah. He was the very proud Pop Pop to Josiah, Samuel, Mabel, Hayden and Dylan. He also leaves behind his bothers, Thomas, Joseph (Titine), and John and many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, December 17, 2022 between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home at 1 Summer St., Cohasset, MA.
