Harriet S. (Snow) Benedict

Harriet Snow Benedict of Cohasset, MA, died peacefully in her sleep on August 21, 2021. She was born on September 17, 1927, to Dr. Henry and Margaret Snow of Dayton, Ohio. After receiving her BA in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, she married George W. Benedict III of Cohasset. They had three children: Katherine B. Liscomb of Marshfield, MA, James S. Benedict, formerly of Alexandria, VA, and Marjory B. Kaptanoglu of Belmont, CA.

Harriet was a homemaker and an active volunteer. In addition to working for political candidates, Harriet was motivated by her love of art and classical music to volunteer for the Museum of Fine Arts and The Boston Symphony Orchestra. 

Harriet and George were avid golfers and members of The Cohasset Golf Club and The Kittansett Club. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed bowling. But she adored the game of bridge most of all, and continued playing (and winning) throughout her life.

Her family will greatly miss her lively conversation, wonderful sense of humor, love of food, and outstanding cooking. She always welcomed visiting family with mouthwatering feasts.

She is survived by children Katherine (William Liscomb) and Marjory (Sinan Kaptanoglu), grandchildren Kristin Smart (Panos Navrozidis), Heather Smart (Bruce Callan), Tanner Kaptanoglu, Alan Kaptanoglu, Derek Kaptanoglu, Cheryl Benedict (Christopher Streich), Megan Liscomb, and Russell Liscomb, and great-grandchildren Zak, Robin, and Findlay.
