Helen Mulhern Obituary

Helen Mulhern, age 93, of Pembroke, formerly of Cohasset, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman J. Delaney and the late Edward Mulhern.

Born in Boston, MA on May 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Claire (Pelletier) Curran.

Helen grew up in Roslindale, MA. On October 15th, 1949, she married Norman J Delaney Helen was the devoted mother of Michael Delaney and his wife Arla of Middleboro, Mark Delaney of Spring Hill Florida, Matthew Delaney and his wife Ramona of Pembroke, Christine Delaney Suckow and her husband Michael of Pembroke, and Constance Delaney Walsh of Falmouth.

She married Edward Mulhern on February 17, 1979. She was the stepmom to William Mulhern and his late wife Maria of Sandwich, Mary (Mulhern) Jewett and her husband Arthur of Mashpee, the late Liz (Mulhern) Doyle and her husband Mark of Lake Worth Florida, Patti (Mulhern) Butscher and her husband Thomas of Tallahassee Florida, and Robert Mulhern and his wife Kathy of Taunton.

Helen worked as a teacher's aid at Deer Hill School in Cohasset. She went back to college and received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston, which led her into a full time position at Talbots executive offices in Hingham where she worked until she retired. Her whole life was about providing and loving her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed having a cup of tea and reading a good book.

She was the loving grandmother of Lydia Larson, Erica Black, Johanna Craig, Katrina Tomey, Monika  Frank, Melissa Parko, Matthew Suckow, Kevin Walsh, Steven Walsh, Brian Jewett, Leah Keenan, Kriston Welch, Tyler Mack, Michael Doyle, Aram Mulhern, Amy Mulhern-Gross, Tori Mulhern, Sean Butscher and 12 great grandchildren. She was the aunt to many nieces and nephews. Helen is also survived by her brother Richard Curran of West Roxbury. She was predeceased by her sister Frances Sullivan of Norwood.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation 4 - 7pm on Thursday April 27, 2023 at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral home at 1 Summer Street Cohasset. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday April 28, 2023 at 10 am at St Anthony’s Church at 129 South Main St, Cohasset. A graveside ceremony immediately following at Woodside Cemetery, 429 East Street, Cohasset. Helen will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Norman J. Delaney. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s memory can be made to The Hannah B. Shaw Home located at 299 Wareham St in Middleboro, MA, where she was well cared for until her passing.
