J. Edward McDonald of Cohasset, MA. March 30, 2021 - Age 90 with his family. Born in Boston October 17, 1930 to William J. McDonald, MD and Mary (Molly) Magee, one of seven siblings raised in Brookline. Graduate of BC High ‘48 where he played baseball, hockey and ran track. Ed graduated from The College of the Holy Cross ’52 and married Joan Morton his wife of seventy years. Together they raised 8 children: Sally & Jim Fitzpatrick of Boston, Julia of Vero Beach, FL, John & Melissa of Martha’s Vineyard, Peter & Mary of Norwell, Molly & David Jackson of Dedham, Andrew & Denise of Cohasset and Sam & Melissa of Scituate. In addition, they have 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Ed had a successful 46-year career in the steel business, first as a salesman for Bliss & Laughlin in Chicago, Buffalo and Hartford; later as President of American Steel & Aluminum and VP of United Steel and Aluminum, in Norwood, MA. An avid sports fan, he was a lifelong playing member of Hatherly Country Club, Minot, MA. Predeceased by brothers Charles and William, sister Janet Mullin and his son Matthew. Survived by sisters Fran O’Brien of Chicago, Mimi Monaco of Honolulu and brother Paul of Needham. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Anthony’s Church Monday, May 10, 2021 at 11:00AM.
