Obituary

James F. Bayley of Norwell, age 70, died on March 26, 2023, of cancer. A lifelong Norwell resident, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Marion D. Bayley. Briefly married to the late Jane Wilson, originally from Texas, he is survived by sisters Cynthia A. (Norwell) and Barbara J. (San Francisco, CA).

A 1970 graduate of Norwell High School, he attended Boston University but, upon completion of the licensing requirements for broadcast engineer, left early to begin a career in radio broadcasting. He worked as an engineer at several major radio stations in Boston, ultimately achieving the title of chief engineer. He was also active in amateur music organizations, primarily as a trombonist.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6, at noon at St. Andrew’s Church, 17 Church St., in Hanover, where his ashes will be interred following the service. Donations in his memory may be made to Massachusetts General Hospital or to Type One Fitness, a 501(3)(c) organization dedicated to improving the wellness of each member no matter what their health challenges might be.
