Jeffry Morrison Obituary

Jeffry M. Morrison of Cohasset passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 28. Born and raised in Quincy, Jeff was a devoted husband of 30 years to his beloved wife, Betty. A loving father to Cole and Charlotte, Jeff is survived by his brother Lyle D. Morrison III and sister-in-law Andrea Serpa Morrison of West Yarmouth, sister Brenda Morrison and her husband Jim Keane of Wareham, and sister Paula Rowe and her husband Larry of Quincy. He is pre-deceased by his sister Debbie Morrison.

He will be missed by his beloved nieces and nephews as well as his aunts and uncles. Jeff was the youngest child of the late Meredith (Wall) Morrison and Lyle D. Morrison Jr.  A loving husband, father, brother, friend, coach, and role model, Jeff will be missed by many.

Jeff grew up in Germantown, a neighborhood in Quincy, and was graduated from Quincy High School and Babson College. He received his masters degree in finance from Boston College. Jeff’s working career started as an accountant at Leggat McCall Advisors, and he soon turned his interests to real estate and finance, working at Bank of Boston, Fleet Bank, and finally KeyBank, where he spent the last 19 years of his career. Jeff’s work brought numerous people into his life, many of whom he considered family.  Work introduced him to his second favorite love — golf. Jeff, along with friends, family and colleagues, would travel across the globe enjoying some of the world’s greatest golf courses and tournaments. As a golfer himself, Jeff could hit a ball incredibly far but often to the wrong zip code.

Jeff’s crowning achievement was the life that he built with his wife and two children. His greatest thrill was coaching both of his kids’ basketball teams, affectionately becoming known as “Coach Mo”.

He split time between Cohasset and Cape Cod in the summer and always had at least one project up and running. He enjoyed woodworking and building furniture for the people he loved. He relished sunset cruises with his family on their boat, “Irish Exit”.  His laughter, his pranks, and his occasional bad joke will be sorely missed.

Visiting hours will be held at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer Street, Cohasset, on Monday, April 3 from 3-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 2 Summer Street, Cohasset, on Tuesday, April 4, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Shore Hospital Critical Care Unit or to Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown.
