John Timmers Obituary

John William Timmers, age 79, of Scituate, passed away peacefully on Ascension Thursday,
May 21, 2020.
Born in St. Cloud, MN on June 28, 1940 to Loren and Rosalie (Mader) Timmers. John attended Cathedral High School and St. Cloud State Univ. for two years before serving in the US Navy on the carrier USS FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT before graduating from Mankato State College in 1966.

In high school and college John had a passion for everything relating to speed. He enjoyed racing hydroplane boats on the lakes of Minnesota and was also very passionate about car racing with a preference for Indy cars. John’s all time favorite driver was the famous Roger Penske and one of his many nicknames which came from his love of the sport was “PENSKE” or “ROGER TIMMERS”.

John was a wealth of knowledge for cars, always making sure everyone had checked their oil and knew how to burn rubber. He could be found tinkering in his garage listening to oldies on his vintage KLH radio, working on antique cars or on the water on his boat “HEADQUARTERS”.

John’s greatest accomplishment was raising his five children. He tought them right from wrong, how to drive, work hard, be respectful, firmly shake someone’s hand and look them in eye while doing so, but most of all, how to have fun. “Work then play,” was one of his many memorable sayings. He was the life of the party, always ready for some fun.

John was the loving husband of Linda P. (Venturini) Timmers of Scituate and the adored father of Tiffany Timmers of Scituate, Kendal Timmers and fiance Brett Wallace of OH, Tamara Timmers of Scituate, Ashley Simpson and husband Jared of Norwell, and Luke Timmers and wife Kristeen of CA. He was the beloved brother of Beverly Lahr and husband Jerry of MN and Kaye Timmers of MN. He was the loving Papa of Jake, Caroline, Nathan, Drew, Lily, Tayen, Siena, Isabella, Khloe, Lilly, Jax, and Baby Boy due in November. John was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

At this difficult time, the family has requested to postpone services until all of the family can be together to celebrate John’s wonderful life. In lieu of flowers and out of love for his grandchildren, the family requests donations to the John Timmers Family Education Fund, c/o of Rockland Trust, 773 Chief Justice Cushing Hwy, Cohasset, MA. 02025 or Cards of sympathy can be mailed to 15 Blueberry Ln.
