John Joseph "Jack" Turner, Jr. age 94 of Scituate, MA and Hutchinson Island, FL on April 8, 2022. Jack was born in Belmont, MA to Nancy (McCarthy) Turner and John J. Turner. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia (Travers) Turner, his sisters Nancie Donelan and Geraldine Cummings and their husbands Frank and John.
Jack left Belmont High School to join the Navy during World War II. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the service, he enrolled at Boston College and proudly graduated in 1949. His love for Boston College, its sports teams and his Catholic faith never faded.
Jack joined the family business and expanded it becoming the “humble merchant” and proprietor of Turner’s Package Store in Scituate Harbor. He was active in the community, joined the Scituate Federal Savings and Loan Board of Directors and was eventually elected President and Chairman of the Board.
It would be an understatement to say Jack and Pat were social. They had no children, thus, their friends and family meant the world to them. They cherished those friendships and constantly extended themselves to enhance the lives of people within their circle. They loved spending time on their boats as well as golfing and were members of Scituate Harbor Yacht Club, Hatherly Golf Club, Stuart Yacht and Country Club, and the Island Dunes Club of Florida.
Jack is survived by many nieces, nephews and their families: Joseph Donelan, II (Chris), John Donelan (Linda), Moira O’Connor (John), Brenda Leopold, Nora Finnegan (Paul), Nan Donelan, Michaela Donadio (Matthew), Francis Donelan (Trish), John Cummings (Faith) and Charlie Flint (Judy).
