Lauri J. Klein

Lauri Klein, 72, of Scituate, MA, passed away on October 16th, 2022, a week after suffering from complications related to a rare malformation in the brain. She was surrounded by her children and loved ones when she passed.

Lauri was born September 8th, 1950 to William and Estelle Klein of White Plains, NY. A graduate of White Plains HS class of 1968, Lauri relocated to Massachusetts to study speech-language pathology at Northeastern University. She later earned her MSW at Boston College, and continued her education by studying counseling psychology at Boston University. Lauri ran a private psychotherapy practice in Hingham, MA for 25 years and taught courses in mindfulness and self compassion.

While Lauri identified as a New Yorker, she settled permanently in Scituate, Massachusetts where she spent her final 36 years. Nearly every day included a meditation practice and a long walk to the beach where she would always be on the lookout for heart-shaped rocks. She was also a citizen of the world and made a point of traveling whenever possible, with her last international destination being Sri Lanka. She had become an avid pastel artist and would often depict landscapes from her travels. Lauri had a zest for life and was committed to spreading her kindness to all those she crossed paths with. 

Lauri is survived by her two children, Emmitt and Lily Klein-Stropnicky and their long term companions Amanda Langworthy and Garrett Sweeney, as well as her long-term companion Jim Harrison, and her brother Stephen Klein. She also leaves behind countless beloved friends and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church Congregation at 330 First Parish Road in Scituate on Saturday, October 22nd, at 2:00pm.
