Lilla May (Conlon) O’Donoghue of Scituate at 88 years on May 3, 2021. Born in Cambridge on January 2,1933 and raised in Belmont, she was the youngest child of the late Arthur J Conlon and Miriam P. (O’Callaghan) Conlon. Lilla was a 1950 Belmont High and 1954 Emmanuel College alumna earning her degree in History. In 1960 Lilla married the late John F O’Donoghue Jr of Belmont and together they raised their family in Scituate. She was a devoted homemaker. The cornerstones of Lilla’s life were her family and her devout faith. She was filled with kindness and grace. A daily communicant at St Francis Cabrini and later St Mary of the Nativity, she was a longtime CCD teacher, Eucharistic Minister, member of Martha and Mary's and member of many Rosary groups. A volunteer at Friends of the Unborn and The League of Catholic Women (past President). Her interests included competitive figure skating, swimming, walking, golfing, sailing, knitting and she was an avid bridge player at The Ace of Clubs. Longtime member of Hatherly Golf Club and Scituate Harbor Yacht Club.
Lilla is survived by her children, John F O’Donoghue III and his wife Lisa M, Mary P O’Donoghue Jordan and her husband Robert T, Brenda C McInnis and her husband John P, all of Scituate. Adored grandsons, John F O’Donoghue IV, Michael J O’Donoghue and step grandson James Jordan. Also survived by her loving sister Brenda C Abely of Sea Island, GA and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Gertrude (Dolly) E Abely and brother Arthur J Conlon Jr.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 4-7 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA. 02025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, May 7, 2021 in St. Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent Street, Scituate Harbor, MA followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Scituate, MA.
