Linda Martin-Dyer Obituary

Linda Mary Martin-Dyer (b-July 3, 1960 d-September 5, 2021) of Norwell MA, died peacefully at home surrounded by family, after a 7 year battle with Glioblastoma that she fought with the same grace, dignity, and strength that she brought to her life.

She is survived and profoundly missed by her devoted husband and love of her life, Peter Dyer and her beloved son Christian, the joy and greatest blessing of her life, and in whom she took her greatest pride in the character of the remarkable young man he’s become.

Also survived by her treasured mother, Ann Martin (Ternullo), adoring brothers Leo Martin and wife Patricia Martin, of Norwell & Scituate, Michael Martin of Braintree and dear sister Suzanne Buiel of Duxbury, stepsons Jeffrey Dyer of Norwell, Kevin Dyer of Hanover, and David Dyer of Pembroke, as well as many loving nieces and nephews, in-laws, and cousins, each of whom were as dear to her as she to them.

Linda was predeceased by her beloved father Leo Edward Martin and cherished nephews, Daniel Leo Martin and Andrew Wayne Dyer.

Raised in Braintree, Linda graduated from Braintree High School in 1978. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business from Eastern Nazarene College and her Master’s in Business Administration from UMASS.  She had a successful career in banking.

Linda believed deeply in the importance of making your corner of the world a better place through civic dedication and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals in Hanover, as the chair of the Capital Budget committee in Norwell and as the committee chair for Scout Troop 192, where she proudly watched her son Christian carry on her spirit of civic engagement and community betterment as he progressed to Life Scout on his path to becoming an Eagle Scout.

Gentle, loving, affectionate, and giving by nature, Linda was an avid gardener with an intrinsically artistic eye. She selflessly and graciously opened her heart and exquisitely appointed home for holidays and celebrations, or whenever someone needed a compassionate and comforting refuge.

As beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, Linda possessed a sharp, agile mind and wit, bringing a level of mastery to any endeavor she undertook. Her family will genuinely miss her steadfast kindness, generosity of time and attention, her tendency to sit in lotus position, and her wonderful, inimitable, deep throaty laughter, that could warm your heart in the hardest of times and brought joy to all who were lucky enough to share in it.
