Marilyn A. (Sweeney) Gibbons, age 91, passed away on April 7, 2023 surrounded by family. Marilyn was born in West Roxbury, to parents Harold and Hilda Sweeney. Marilyn was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward F Gibbons.
Marilyn is survived by her four children and six grandchildren. Edward Gibbons of Cohasset and his wife Trisha and their children Brendan and Christian. Michael Gibbons, of Scituate and his wife, Maryellen, and children, Connor and Aiden. Paula Dinneen of Scituate and her husband, Dave and their children Elizabeth and David and Elizabeth Gibbons of Scituate. Marilyn is survived by her sister, Shirley Bogue of Westwood and brother William Sweeney of Barrington Rhode Island. Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, Harold and Hilda Sweeney and siblings Harold Sweeney of New York and Gerald Sweeney of Westwood. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn graduated from Saint Patrick’s high school and worked for Raytheon until starting her family. A longtime resident of Scituate, Marilyn’s joy was her family, always there when she was needed. Car rides around town, especially Scituate lighthouse and Minot beach and family vacations to Saint Pete Beach.
Marilyn touched many lives with her positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and her love for life, she will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 9:30-10:30am at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home-1 Summer Street, Cohasset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held same day at 11AM in St. Anthony’s Church, Cohasset. Burial will take place at Cudworth Cemetery, Scituate.
