Mary E. (Curran) Ward

Mary E (Curran) Ward aged 71 died on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 surrounded by family, her spirit soaring over the Cohasset home she loved so much.

 A bright spirit determined to help others, Mary spent most of her life as a nurse, which was more of a passion than a job. She spent 38 years as a nurse at Boston Medical center and 5 years at Norwell VNA and hospice.

Upon retirement in 2015, Mary devoted her considerable energies to volunteer work, serving the seniors as part of the Friends of Cohasset Elder Affairs, Garden club, book club, cooking, golf, bridge, enjoying the beach, traveling and most importantly spending time with her wide circle of friends, family and her grandchildren. The time with her grandchildren was particularly precious to Mary, as she wanted to leave her family with not only vivid, magical memories but with the values of kindness, integrity, commitment and honesty.

Mary will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was the best friend and wife of Mike Ward, who after 50 years of marriage she was still crazy in love with. She was a supportive, accepting and a true friend to her children Kimberlee and Michelle Ward, and a life force for her grandchildren Julia Haskell, Dominic, Jocelyn and Mikayla Balonis.

Born and raised in Dorchester Ma, she was the oldest of seven children, born of the late Frances and William Curran. She was predeceased by her brothers Jeremiah and William Curran and sister Judy Carter. Mary leaves behind sisters Janice and Fran and brother Thomas and their spouses. 

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 10AM at St. Anthony’s Church, Cohasset. Visiting hours will be held prior from 8-10AM at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home-1 Summer Street, Cohasset, MA.(across the street from the church) Relatives and friends invited to attend.

Immediately following the Funeral Mass for Mary, the Ward family would the congregation to join them directly at the St. Anthony's Parish Hall for light refreshments and a continued celebration of Mary's Life.

Interment will be private.
