Mary Lynn Fontana
1949-2023
Incidentally, Mary Lynn Fontana “Tusty” has passed away.
Born in Westbury, NY; lived in Manhasset, NY, Cutchogue, NY, Woodstock, VT, and Chatham, MA; then, in quintessential “Tusty” fashion, died on Friday the 13th in Boston, MA.
Enthusiast of talking on the phone, being the best grandma, baking complicated desserts, reading books, tending to her garden, writing postcards, owls, crisp ironed sheets, her daily dose of fire cider, practical jokes, thoughtful gifts, Fox News, popcorn shrimp, Sunday night dinners and the appropriate use of utensils and glassware.
Collector of elaborate recipes, fancy sprinkles, random spices, table linens, marbles, dessert plates, white turtlenecks, cashmere sweaters, boat shoes, and corduroy pants.
Greeted at the Pearly Gates by her parents, Mary and Marty and by her brother, Jimmy.
Fondly remembered by her brother, Marty, of Oak Island, NC; her children, Danielle (Gregg Forger) of Norwell, MA, Jaimee Rizzo of Weymouth, MA, Sally (Sean McReynolds) of Norwell, MA, Matt Rizzo (Susie) of Mattituck, NY; her grandchildren, Maggie, Charlie and Katie Forger; Molly, Jimmy, Marty and Jack McReynolds; Rory and Liam Rizzo; best friends, Moby, Pam and DDW; and countless others.
Her decorating, gardening and parenting hotline will be sorely missed. May her legendary pointed finger aim to guide us if we should ever lose our way.
A service will be held by the Holy Redeemer Church at 10am on Friday January 27th, 2023 in Chatham, MA.
