Michael Glancy

1953 ~ 2021 (age 68)

Obituary

Michael Glancy , 68 of Scituate formerly of Milton passed bravely on Saturday October 30,2021  surrounded by his children and loving wife. Mike was born in Boston on February 24, 1953 to Jake and Marie ( Murphy ) Glancy. Mike grew up in Milton with his siblings: Jane Glancy, John Glancy, Ann Venti, Sue DiPesa, Peter Glancy, and David Glancy. He also made lifelong friends who were considered family. He married the love of his life Maura ( Moran)  in 1984 and together they share 3 children , Samantha , Carly and Michael. Mike was a courageous, strong and brave man, the type of person everyone wanted to be around. He was an avid golfer and a self-proclaimed boat captain. He lived each day to the fullest and lived with no regrets. Mike leaves behind his siblings and his favorite nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved Puerto Rican beach dog, Buster and a neighborhood that cherished him.

A 1971 graduate of  Milton High school, Mike joined his father, uncle and brother in the family business, W.H. Glancy & Sons in his twenties. Mike’s love for the ocean and boating led him to spend time down the cape, eventually meeting and marrying his wife, Maura. After marriage the two decided to settle in Scituate to raise a family. Establishing roots meant, getting a boat, joining the men's golf league and convincing the neighbors that Patriots were on their way to win the superbowl that year.

Mike's biggest accomplishment, besides the world renowned garage he built, was raising his three children. Samantha, Carly and Michael were all Scituate athletes, and Mike spent countless hours cheering on his kids, hardly missing a game. You always knew he was there, either by his questionable parking spot, a heckle from the sidelines or a cane raise after good play.

As the years went on, the boat became bigger and the lobster traps still were impossible to find. Sunset cruises and family Sunday whale watches became the regular. Mike enjoyed the time spent at sea, relaxing and soaking up every second the sun had to offer.

In the end, he was still the funniest person in the room and he wanted everyone to know, he certainly got his money's worth.
