Michael McEvoy, age 71, passed peacefully with family by his side on September 18th, 2022. Michael was born on August 23, 1951. He grew up in Quincy, MA, where he attended Quincy Vocational Technical High School before matriculating to “every college on the Fenway,” as he famously put it, as a student of engineering at the Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University.
Michael was the loving son of the late Rose and Maurice McEvoy of Hyannis. He was so loved by his former wife, Anne Dever McEvoy of Quincy, his children, Michael (and Jill) McEvoy, Katie (and James) Crawford, and Liz (and Kevin) Bersell, all of Norwell, and his beautiful grandchildren Gavin, Ryan, Michael, and Teddy McEvoy; Emily and Colin Crawford; and Benjamin and Abigail Bersell, all of Norwell. Michael was the beloved brother of Peggy, Marianne, and Dennis McEvoy, and of the late Kevin McEvoy, all of Hyannis.
Michael was a successful entrepreneur, the owner of Liberty Lounge and McEvoy Security. He had a warm smile, a gleam in his eye, a huge laugh, and to the end, a wicked sense of humor. Michael loved sailing, coaching baseball, driving his ’75 Stingray Corvette, and most of all, being with his kids. Throughout his life, he was a generous friend to those in need.
His family would like to thank Cape Winds Rest Home in Hyannis, MA, for the attentive and loving care that they provided Michael during the past seven years. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Cape Winds Rest Home, 349 Sea Street, Hyannis, MA, 02601.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, September 25th between 4-7PM at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central Street, Norwell, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 26th at 10AM at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart-392 Hanover Street, Hanover, MA. Interment will be private.
