Nancy J. (Salo) Monahan

Nancy J. Monahan passed away on August 2, 2021 surrounded by her family.  She was the beloved wife of T. Stacey of Marshfield for 49 years.  Devoted mother of Robert and his wife Eva of Scituate, Elizabeth and her husband Paul, and the late Thomas S. III, MD.  She was the loving daughter of Lennard and Aino, beloved sister of David and his partner Karen, the late Robert and his wife Frada.  She was the adoring grandmother of Matthew, Martin, Christian, Lydia, Michael, and Emily.  Nancy leaves many other close relatives and loved ones.

Nancy was a graduate of UMass Amherst.  She pursued her love of art and teaching, beginning her career as an elementary art teacher in Scituate.  She concluded her career, retiring as an elementary art teacher in Marshfield.  She loved inspiring creativity in others and her love of art and teaching children was evident in all the work that she did.  She genuinely loved her teaching career.

Nancy’s greatest love was her family.  She selflessly and lovingly raised her three children while being her husband’s most steadfast supporter.  She transitioned her loving care to the needs of her grandchildren, always being present and building special relationships with all.  Nancy gave endlessly of herself and her kind, loving, generous nature will be missed immensely by all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, August 10th from 4 – 7 pm at McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St. Cohasset, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 11th at 10 am at St. Mary of the Nativity in Scituate. *The family respectfully requests face masks be worn at all services, for the safety of Nancy’s grandson’s, Christian’s, health. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memorial of Nancy Monahan to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Thomas S. Monahan III, MD Surgical Resident Support Fund.
