Patrick Joseph Carolan, II

Patrick J. Carolan II of Scituate, MA, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022, at the age of 24 following a car accident. The beloved son of Patrick and Margaret (Gately) Carolan and brother of Matthew, Patrick graduated from Boston College High School and attended Marquette University. He was a first-year electrician apprentice at the IBEW Local 103. He is survived by his grandparents Patrick and Betty Carolan, of Fairfield, Connecticut and Philip and Joan Gately of Westerly, Rhode Island. and a proud nephew and cousin to an extended, tight-knit Irish-American family.  

Patrick was always athletic, starting in Sci-Coh Football, part of a championship team for three years in a row. While attending BC High, he discovered rowing, and his teammates became steadfast friends. The highlights of his rowing were competing at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and the Head of the Charles. He was always a team player and put people at ease. In addition, he was a good listener who could read a room. 

He loved all animals, especially dogs, who always seemed to embrace his gentle personality and happy-go-lucky spirit. The family dog, Buddy, was his faithful companion who enjoyed napping on the couch with his pal.

Patrick hit his stride in working at EG Sawyer and joining the electrical union. He embraced his work, particularly loved experiential learning, and was often the ‘brawn’ of the group.
 

Devoted equally to family and friends, Patrick was trusted and loyal, consistently welcoming, non-judgmental, and optimistic. With his innate cheerfulness, he brought light to every room. 

Visiting hours will be at St. Mary’s of the Nativity, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, on Friday, April 22 between 7pm to 9pm and a funeral Mass (St. Mary’s) on Saturday, April 23 at 9:30am with burial immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
