Paul Conboy Obituary

Paul Thomas Conboy

Longtime Norwell Resident, Korean War Veteran, and Devoted Family Man.

Paul Thomas Conboy, a beloved resident of Norwell, passed away peacefully at South Shore Hospital on December 8th, surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born and raised in Roslindale, where his adventurous spirit and love for the sea began to flourish during his youth spent at the family cottage in Manomet. After joining the United States Air Force, he served honorably during the Korean War, stationed at various locations around the world. His experiences abroad shaped his worldview and instilled in him a deep appreciation for different cultures.

Upon returning to the States, Paul joined the IBEW Local 103, where he remained an active member for many years. Recently, he proudly celebrated his 65th year as a dedicated union member. Paul pursued education later in life, graduating from Newbury College in 1977 with an Associates Degree in Applied Science. His commitment to lifelong learning was mirrored in his love for literature, as he was a voracious reader with a passion for exploring new worlds through books. Paul was a Christian man who attended church regularly, embodying morality and kindness in his everyday life. His strong sense of ethics left a lasting impression on those who knew him. In a remarkable chapter of their lives, Paul and his loving wife, Janet, sailed the Pacific together, embarking on an extraordinary journey that allowed them to experience and embrace diverse cultures that most people only dream of. This shared adventure became a testament to their love for exploration.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janet. He is survived by his two daughters, Allison Guerriero and Stephanie Conboy, and his son, Thomas Conboy. His legacy extends to his two granddaughters, Luna Conboy and Mina Conboy and four grandsons, Anthony and Paul Guerriero, Xavier Shoemaker, and Zachary Conboy. A great-granddaughter, Adeline Guerriero, will also cherish his memory. Beyond his immediate family, Paul leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and community members who will miss him dearly but will remember him whatever conversation he last left them with.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held on January 20th, 2024 at 1pm at New Hope Chapel-673 Main Street, Norwell, MA 02061 followed by a gathering at the Tinkers Son right down the street at 2pm.

On June 7th, 2024, which was Paul and Janet’s anniversary, Paul’s remains will be brought to the Bourne National Cemetery from the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home in Norwell. Plan to depart the home at 9:15AM, and there will be an 11:15AM Air Force Burial at the cemetery. Condolences and memories can be shared at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home website, or at the celebration of life.

Paul Thomas Conboy will be remembered not only for his dedication to his family and community but also for his adventurous spirit, unwavering principles, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey. May he rest in eternal peace.
