Peter Fallon, Jr. Obituary

Go forth and set the world on fire –St. Ignatius of Loyola

Peter Gerard Fallon, Jr., of Scituate and Boston, MA, passed away on November 15, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Peter was born on March 27, 1938, to Peter and Mary “May” Fallon in Boston. He graduated from Boston College High School in 1956 and continued his Jesuit education at the College of the Holy Cross. He proudly served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade from 1960 to 1962, most notably as Ship’s Navigator aboard the USS Intrepid. Peter received his MBA from Babson College and began his career at Gillette before becoming a Partner at Boston Financial Technology Group in 1970.

Throughout his life, Peter lead multiple boards and committees for such organizations as Old Colony Montessori School, Road to Responsibility, BC High, Hebron Academy, College of the Holy Cross, the Union Club of Boston, and Museum of Fine Arts. He was committed to providing the best educational opportunities to his children, grandchildren, and the greater community. By his own admission, marrying Ellen (nee) Donovan was the best decision of his life.

Peter derived his greatest pleasure spending time with family. He loved entertaining friends, traveling the world with fellow patrons from the Museum of Fine Arts, cruising on his sailboat Double Diamond, playing golf at Hatherly Country Club, and fly-fishing aboard On the Fly. He was a master trip planner, a voracious reader, and a fixture at art openings and lectures. He could talk at length about food and wine, and he continued to attend his book club meetings throughout his illness. Later in life, he found wonderful companionship with Joan Middleton.

Peter was predeceased by Ellen Fallon, his wife of 52 years, and his sister Mary Beth Fallon. He is survived by his son Peter Fallon III and wife Sarah Devlin of Phippsburg, ME; daughter Jennifer Fallon and husband John Coen of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Liam and Claire Coen, also of San Francisco; sister Jane Wisleder (Robert) of Hingham, MA; and brother Tucker Fallon (Carmen Cunningham) of Vero Beach, FL. Peter is also survived by nieces Christine Burke, Deborah Wisleder, and Patricia Sullivan, as well as many grandnephews and grandnieces.

To quote one of those grandnephews, Brendan Sullivan, “To a man who lived a wonderfully full life and will leave it better and brighter than how he found it, thank you. [We are] eternally grateful and will always think of you on [our] future travels.”

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, November 21, between 3:00pm and 7:00pm at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home at 1 Summer St., Cohasset, MA.
