Ray Kasperowicz of Cohasset passed on the morning of August 19 at 8:28 am. For the past year he had fought against a variety respiratory and blood ailments that finally overcame him. He had been home these past two months but was in and out of the hospital and rehab since September 2020.
Ray is survived by his wife, Tanna; son Peter and daughter-in-law Anne Kasperowicz and grandchildren Georgia and Sam of Fairfax, Virginia; son Thaddeus and daughter-in-law Lena Kasperowicz of Pepperell, Mass; sister, Laraine and brother-in-law Moses Gittons of Larkspur, California; and brother Stephen of Folcroft, PA; sister-in-law Jayme and brother-in-law Howard Hill of Lancaster, PA. Ray’s parents preceded him in death: Helen Josephine Morze Kasperowicz and Raymond Bronillaw Kasperowicz, both born in Philadelphia, PA.
Ray served two years active duty in the United States Navy and four years in the Naval Reserves. He was a Fire Control Technician on the Van Voorhis, a Dealy-class Destroyer Escort.
Over the past 45 years Ray was involved in the Town of Cohasset as a sewer commissioner (3 terms), commodore of the Cohasset Sailing Club and served as an officer of the Hull Yacht Club. He was very involved with the Cohasset Lightkeepers renovations and one year got so upset with government he ran for Congress. Ray had a great sense of humor and for 20 years wrote an anonymous column for his wife’s paper, the Tinytown Gazette. It can now be told that although many were accused, Ray was MR NATURE NOSE.
Ray’s son Thaddeus will take over Ray’s CPA practice at the 760 bldg. on Chief Justice Cushing Highway in Cohasset.
There will be no funeral or celebration of life. Ray did not wish for this.
The family will deal with Ray’s ashes at a later date, on the water.
Ray wished to be sailing and there was never enough time for it.
