Robert "Bob" E. Tilden

Robert (Bob) Edward Tilden of Scituate MA passed away peacefully at age 80 on July 28, 2023, following a brief illness, surrounded by family at the Pat Roch Hospice House in Hingham, MA. Bob was born on October 27, 1942, and grew up in Cohasset MA, graduating Cohasset High School in 1960 and receiving his associate degree in food distribution at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA in 1964. He served in the US Navy from 1965-1967 and was based on the USS Enterprise, where he traveled the world. He then began a 45-year career in the packaging industry. Above all, he was passionate about his family, was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid tennis player, and loved traveling. He was a loyal friend to many, and all who knew him will remember his sociable personality and his ability to make everyone laugh. He is predeceased by his parents Jane and William Tilden of Cohasset, MA. He is survived by his wife Lynn Tilden of Scituate MA, son Brad (and wife Kristine) Tilden of Marshfield, MA, son Richard (and wife Charlotte) Tilden of Marshfield, MA and daughter Julie (and husband Phil) Brown of Hancock, NH. Bob’s grandchildren, who lovingly called him ‘Boppy,’ include Heather Tilden, Brody Tilden, Erin Tilden, Devin Tilden, Laurel Brown, Alden Brown, and step grand-children Nick Wilkinson, Matthew Wilkinson, and Emily Wilkinson. He is also survived by his sister Judy Sestito of Cohasset, MA, as well as his brother Terry Tilden and wife Patricia Tilden from Canton, MA.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 4, at 11 am at Saint Anthony’s Church, 129 S Main Street, Cohasset, MA 02025. The service will be immediately followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the Parish Hall next door.
