Ronald Francis Keeney died peacefully on October 12, 2023 in Cohasset, Mass., surrounded by his family's love. He was 87.
Ron, as he was known, was born in New York City to Anne and Frank Keeney. As a youth, he enjoyed playing with his nearby cousins and family travels to Saugerties, New York, and its wooded landscapes. These visits influenced his appreciation of the great outdoors.
Ron proudly served in the U.S. Army in the parachuting division and was a member of the Ready Reserve. Professionally, he worked for over two decades at Roche Laboratories in Nutley, New Jersey, and later for the Palisades Interstate Park Commission along the Hudson River.
Mr. Keeney found solace in reading, coin collecting, and listening to the radio. He enjoyed nature walks, military history, pumpkin pie, and Gunsmoke. He lived his life on his terms.
Ron is survived by his brother James and sister-in-law Dorothy Keeney of Milton, Mass.; his nieces Maryanne Wetherald of Cohasset, Mass.; and Jennifer Keeney of Ramsey, New Jersey. Ron will be sorely missed by those who loved him.
Funeral arrangements are private at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.
