Obituary

Sharon Louise Ridge (Conway), age 77 of Norwell, passed away on December 31, 2021.  She lived a great life– happily married to her devoted husband, raising her loving children and grandchildren, and enjoying time with her many loyal friends.

Sharon was born to Alva and James Conway in Lynn, MA.  She was one of three children with her sister Sheila Welch and brother James Conway.  She graduated from Saint Mary’s in Lynn, where she made many of her dearest friendships that continued into adulthood, and then she went on to earn her degree from Salem State College.  Suiting her kind heart and generous nature, she became a social worker and later a teacher.  Although she left those professions to raise her family, she remained a natural teacher throughout her life, bestowing many lessons upon friends and family.

Sharon met her husband, the late Joseph Robert Ridge on Cape Cod.  Their love spanned 50 years, centered on building a home in Norwell and creating a beautiful life with their three daughters.  She dedicated as much time as she could to her girls as they grew up, coaching teams, attending sporting events, recitals and traveling.  She was the loving mother of Jennifer Ridge and husband Tyler Gaylord of Darien Connecticut, Marisa Burgess and the late David Paul Burgess of Norwell, and Lauren and husband Thomas Dougherty of Hingham.

Throughout her life, Sharon revealed that the most important aspect of her life was the people whom she shared it with: her husband, daughters, grandchildren, family and dear friends.  She loved them all fiercely, rarely missing an opportunity to spend time with them.   She was a source of inspiration, strength and loyalty and was known for her sense of humor, quick wit, and devotion to many.  She loved chatting, reading, golfing, beach trips, walking and a good belly laugh. Never one to fade into the background, her warm smile and resonating voice brought joy to those around her.

Sweet and sassy until her last day, “Mimi”, lives on in her 7 grandchildren whom she adored including: Isla, Owen, and Georgia Dougherty, Delilah and Macy Burgess, and Dexter and Willa Gaylord.  She will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be at the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral home in Norwell on Saturday January 22, 2022 from 11 AM-1 PM.  Interment will be private.
