Sheila A. (Flaherty) Stanton, age 81, of Norwell, formerly of West Roxbury, and long time summer resident of Houghs Neck, Quincy, passed away on January 4, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Richard F. Stanton. Devoted mother of Mark Stanton and wife Jill of Halifax, Mary Nicholas and husband George of Clinton, MA, Janet Stanton Ward of Chicago, IL, John Stanton and wife Elaine of Norwell, and the late Robert Stanton. Adoring grandmother of Richard, Robert, Brenna, Emily, Adam, Seamus, Olivia, Ian, Owen, Amanda and Samantha. Sister of the late Marion Martin, the late William Flaherty and the late Paul Flaherty.
Mrs. Stanton worked as a bookkeeper for the Town of Norwell School Department. She was a graduate of Roslindale High School and was a parishioner of St. Theresa’s Church in West Roxbury. After moving to Norwell, Sheila was a parishioner of St. Helen Church and a member of the St. Helen Women’s Sodality and Choir.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Sheila on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central Street (off Rt. 123, near State Police Barracks), Norwell Center, MA. 02061 and again Wednesday, January 11 at 9 am before processing to St. Helen Church, 383 Washington Street (Rt. 53), Norwell, MA. 02061 for a funeral Mass at 10 am. Interment Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell.
