Sheila Wynne Obituary

Sheila Eilene Wynne of Brewster, died unexpectedly in Portland Maine on December 12: 2021, at the age of 84. She was the beloved daughter of the late John A. and Mary E. (McDermott) Wynne. Sheila was the loving sister of: Noreen Frizelle and husband Al, Mary Jo Noonan and husband David, Virginia  MacLeod and husband Donald, John Wynne and wife Rhonda, the late Jacqueline Wynne and Carol McDermott. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Peter McDermott, many cherished nieces and nephews, and her dear friend, Pat Fortier.

 

Sheila grew up in Roslindale and Norwood. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy and Emmanuel College where she majored in English. After college she decided to pursue a career in teaching, and share her love of literature and writing with young people.  Her teaching career, which spanned several decades began in Long Beach CA and ended in Mahopac, NY. In between, she spent a few years teaching in Boston, Germany and Okinawa. She also earned a graduate degree in counseling.

 

Sheila loved the ocean and spent several summers with her family in Scituate. Later in life she retired to Brewster to live by the sea. She had a love for traveling and traveled extensively throughout this country, Europe and Asia.

 

Sheila was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster where she belonged to the Ladies Guild, volunteered at their thrift shop and taught religious education. She also volunteered for the Brewster Historical Society.

 

Funeral services and burial will be private. In the Spring, a Celebration of Life will be held to honor her memory.
