Gilmartin, Stephen M., 92 of Norwell, MA died peacefully comforted by his family on February 7, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara (Bocanfuso), his three children Elise (Mark) Bendlock of Hanson, MA; Stephen of Houston, TX; Scott (Karin) of Norwell, MA; and two grandchildren Hadley and Aidan, along with many nieces and nephews. Stephen is predeceased by his parents Stephen and Mary (Glynn) Gilmartin, and four siblings Elizabeth (Michael) Beatrice, Hugh W. Gilmartin, Edward Gilmartin, and George Gilmartin. Steve grew up in Jamaica Plain and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps right out of high school. For 40 years Steve was a proud US Marine, a Veteran who fought in the Korean war, a reservist, and a Marine Corp recruiter until his honorable discharge when he aged out in 1991. After the war Steve earned degrees from the Stockbridge School at Umass Amherst, Suffolk University and Boston University. He transitioned to a long career as a high school science teacher. Steve impacted so many students over many decades at both Christopher Columbus High School in Boston, and at Cohasset High School in Cohasset, MA. Steve loved his family, Sunday night pizza & beer, coffee, animals, and maintaining the biggest woodpile you’ve ever seen.
