Obituary

Susan N. Geary of Scituate, MA  passed away peacefully at home on the morning of August 29, 2023.  She was the beloved wife of Philip G. Geary, and devoted Mother to Noelle S. Brindamour and her husband Scott A. Brindamour.  And as everyone new her best, Nana to John Philip and Lauren Haley Brindamour.

Born in Wichester MA in 1946, to her loving and devoted parents, R. Frank and Mary Haley, Susan was immediately diagnosed with a congenital heart defect.  A long and Incredible medical journey, consisting of, among other things, three major open heart surgeries, would impact and accompany her throughout her entire life.  Yet instead of such a condition defining her, Susan redefined what it meant to be a longtime critical care heart patient.  This was a goal of hers to show other congenital heart patients that a full, active, and happy life could be lived with such a condition.  She would swim, sail, ski, exercise and go to the gym regularly, play 18-hole golf (at both Hatherly CC, and White Cliffs CC), graduate Summa Cum Laude from Fisher College and have a bright career as an executive and legal secretary for many years.

But all who knew Susan knew her First Love and purpose in life was as a devoted wife and best friend to Philip,  a wonderful and ever-present example of a mother (and friend) to Noelle.  And above all else, the most devoted, involved, and active “Nana” to her most precious grandchildren, Jack and Lauren.  There was never a playdate with their friends that didn’t have a "special delivery" of her famous chocolate chip cookies, hot from the oven.

Susan was also known and loved as "Aunt Suzy” to her devoted nieces, their husbands, and grand nieces and nephews.  Never ones for being idle, Aunt Suzy and Uncle Phil accumulated many many miles on their cars driving from Scituate, MA to “The Boulevard” in Dorchester, to Havard, MA , and York ME.  Sports events,  plays, recitals, or just a relaxing (yet always very active and fun) weekends with all their beloved “littles” was their happiness.

As her many friends have commented and comforted us with over the past week, they will miss the warm, beautiful smile and silly giggle that Susan would always greet them with.
